Life as a Pac Man game

This is a yummy and filling article on facing your fears and being grateful for your present circumstances in order to move forward to others. Clean and fresh presentation of the obvious yet sometimes seemingly insurmountable task of Not Letting the Rough Times Drag You Down. (Thanks, Lawrence!)
"...when you look at any part of your life with disdain, you deny that you’re the artist who created it. Maybe it’s your early work, and it’s not much to look at, but you can’t progress by denying that it’s yours.

...When you claim credit for what you’ve already created, you simultaneously summon the power to create something new."

Funemployment life lesson #438

Sunburns can be kinda nice.

Experience needed

Alright, superstars! It's time to start blogging about my experience in unemployment. Some bits I've gathered in my two months so far:
  • Experts say to expect 4-18 months of unemployment.
  • Action precedes motivation. I learned this from cognitive behavioral therapy, and it has been a vital tool for my survival during this unemployment-related depression. Once you get active and start the ball rolling, the rest of the day becomes more productive.
  • Having obligations to someone else makes all the selfish time so much more delicious. I'm a person of a million hobbies, but they've started to lose their appeal as I've lost a sense of limitation on my time. I'm trying to remind myself to seize these precious days and enjoy them to the fullest, since it'll be all too soon (even if it's 18 months from now) that I'll feel like there's no time to do what I want.
The other day, having reached a milestone of Dejection in my job search, I decided to look for the lowest skilled jobs I could possibly find. As I browsed through postings on Craigslist, I came across one that said "Dishwasher needed -- Excellent Opportunity!!!" "Great!" I thought, and clicked on it. Inside, it read: "At least one year experience required."
